You've secured sponsorship for your E2.0 initiative. Now what? You know you need top management involvement to establish "formal" support. You've also heard you need groundswell support, too. But how do you get both? And what's the right mix of each to foster success? And how do you ensure that when you build the environment, your users will come? Come learn how CSC got beyond the Field of Dreams with a robust adoption campaign for "C3: Connect. Communicate. Collaborate.", its global internal social business software initiative that collapsed time zone, distance and organizational barriers. We'll discuss our multi-tiered advocacy strategy that augmented our formal, global communication plan and provided the bottoms-up support that was fundamental to the viral, early adoption success of this industry-recognized global initiative. It may come as no surprise that IBM has a long history with collaboration, and social computing, from text chat applications decades ago to enterprise collaboration tools of today. Enterprise 2.0 now reaching a new crescendo in IBM, in terms of deployment, and in the depth of thinking of how it is applied in the organization. If there is a Stage Zero—“How is this stuff any different than what my kid does with Facebook?”—Stage 1 is when people in the organization start recognizing: "We need our collaboration tools to integrate with our knowledge systems and enterprise databases." As the saying goes, the future is unevenly distributed, but I'd say we have cross the marker for Stage 1 with tens, and hundreds of thousands of users of many different collaboration tools. We are now a few years in our thinking process into Stage 2 —“The tools are great, but we need to ingrain enterprise 2.0 into our enterprise processes and operations." But, as you can imagine with 400,000 employees, 170 countries, thousands of complex products and services, such a transformation to the organization’s processes and operations is not an overnight phenomenon. We’re now trying to glimpse at a shining future of Stage 3: “How do we get people and organizational groups ready to work with fluid information and dynamic structures of the enterprise 2.0 future?” Add to calendar - Add to Google Calendar

Implementing Enterprise 2.0 in a Controlled Environment: Lessons Learned #e2conf-44 (Location: Grand Ballroom C)This presentation explores best practices in deploying E2.0 in an environment that mandates control and privacy. Great promises of Enterprise 2.0 are transparency and access. While this approach to openness is viewed predominately as positive and a way to promote increased collaboration and knowledge exchange, there are certain situations in which security and privacy must be a part of an Enterprise 2.0 platform. This is particularly the case in the European Union (EU) where social profiles and other content are subject to privacy laws and regulations. Based on discussions with members of The 2.0 Adoption Council, this report provides a real-word view of managing privacy, including scoping the issue, identifying and quantifying obstacles, lessons learned and best approaches, hopefully paving the way for other organizations that have been trepidatious about embracing E2.0 because of privacy issues.
